General guidelines for selling loose incense:
- We strongly recommend using our Polypropylene (PP) Vending Bags for all customer incense purchases. Or silver foil. Not tissue or paper bags.
The sticks are packed damp to give the best resulting aroma and so fragrance oils and dyes in our products may leech through standard paper bags/tissue paper, potentially causing staining. Our PP bags are coded 5 and can be recycled where customers usually recycle their soft plastic waste.
- Carefully cut or untwist the ties around the smaller bundles of incense and display with the thin part of the stick pointing upwards. Our glass or card stands are perfect for display.
- Avoid the main burning area with hands, use the stick part to handle. Wash hands after handling incense.
Please advise your customers on the following:
- Do not place unlit sticks on polished or painted surfaces or areas likely to stain.
- Handle the sticks via the thin woody end to prevent colour transfer.
- Place the stick in a suitable incense holder ensuring that it is stable.
- Position the holder on a flat surface away from any material that may ignite and in a draft-free area. Wash hands after handling incense.
- Ensure any falling ash lands onto a non-flammable, non-staining surface.
- Light the tip of the stick and gently blow out the flame so that the stick is glowing/smouldering.
- To extinguish the stick, dip it in water.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Never leave a lit stick unattended.
